Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C/ AED The Canadian Red Cross Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C & AED course is a comprehensive 16-hour program designed for people who need workplace first aid certification or anyone who wants a higher level of first aid knowledge and practical skills. The Canadian Red Cross Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C curriculum includes: * The role of the Canadian Red Cross * Principles and approach to providing first aid * Preparing yourself to respond safely * Assessing the scene * Identifying hazards * Taking appropriate precautions * Understanding the emergency medical services system * When and how to activate EMS * Working with responding emergency services * Assessing an injured or ill person * Determining the appropriate level of care * Calling for emergency assistance * Providing appropriate care until help arrives * Recognizing airway emergencies * Choking emergencies * Appropriate care for airway obstruction in adults, children and infants * Recognizing breathing emergencies * Recognizing circulation emergencies * Responding appropriately to cardiovascular emergencies * Recognizing cardiac arrest * CPR for adults, children and infants * Using an AED * CPR and AED considerations for adults, children and infants * Providing care for respiratory and cardiac arrest * Assessing and managing wounds * Controlling bleeding * Appropriate care for wound-related emergencies * Recognizing head, neck and spinal injuries * Appropriate first aid care * Recognizing situations where spinal injury should be suspected * Recognizing injuries involving bones, muscles and joints * Sprains and strains * Fractures * Dislocations * Appropriate first aid management * Recognizing sudden medical emergencies * Assessing and providing appropriate first aid care * Recognizing environmental illnesses and injuries * Providing appropriate first aid treatment * Recognizing poisoning emergencies * Appropriate first aid response * Opioid poisoning awareness The course also includes any additional content required by the applicable Provincial or Federal Authority Having Jurisdiction for workplace first aid training. To successfully complete the program, participants must: * Attend and participate in 100% of the course * Successfully demonstrate the required skills and critical steps * Achieve a minimum 75% on the written knowledge evaluation On completion, certified for 3-years Course Duration: 6-8 hours online, 8- hours in Person
