Service Description
Basic First Aid, CPR-C & AED Recertification Refresh your skills. Renew your certification. Stay ready to help. The Canadian Red Cross Basic First Aid, CPR-C & AED Recertification course from Athelas First Aid is designed for participants who already hold a valid qualifying Basic First Aid, CPR-C & AED certification and need to renew their credentials. Unlike the full blended course, recertification is completed entirely in person, with approximately 5 hours of instructor-led training and no online component. At Athelas First Aid, you’ll learn from real first responders with real-world emergency experience. Recertification is more than renewing a certificate—it’s an opportunity to refresh essential skills, correct bad habits, and rebuild your confidence to respond effectively when an emergency happens. Who Is Eligible? To attend a recertification course, you must hold an eligible current, unexpired first aid certification that meets Canadian Red Cross and applicable provincial requirements. If your certification has expired, you are not eligible for recertification and will need to complete the full Basic First Aid, CPR-C & AED course. Please verify your certification and expiry date before registering. If you’re unsure whether your current certificate qualifies, contact Athelas First Aid before registration. What You’ll Review Following the Canadian Red Cross Basic First Aid, CPR-C & AED curriculum, you’ll review and practise: • Check, Call, Care and emergency scene assessment • Adult, child, and infant CPR • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use • Adult, child, and infant choking • Recovery position • Heart attack, angina, and stroke • Deadly bleeding and shock • Wound care, burns, dressings, and bandaging • Accessing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) The course emphasizes hands-on practice, skill development, and direct instructor feedback. Course Requirements & Certification Participants must attend and participate in 100% of the course, successfully demonstrate the required skills and critical steps, and achieve at least 75% on the knowledge evaluation. Successful participants receive a Canadian Red Cross Basic First Aid, CPR-C & AED certificate valid for three years.
